Mark Kapral

Indoor Percussion Composer

Mark Kapral is currently the Percussion Director at Milton High School in Milton, Georgia, a position he has held since 2005. Mark is also the battery instructor for Pope High School in Marietta, GA and the 2011 visual designer for Atlanta Quest Independent Indoor Drumline. Previously he was the assistant band director at Milton High School from 2007-2010. Before taking on that role he taught for two years as Assistant Band Director at Northwestern Middle School from 2005-2007. Mark is also an independent arranger for marching bands and indoor drumlines. He also recently signed to write indoor shows for CounterMotion.

 

Mark is a 2005 graduate of Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia. While attending GSU, he was a member of several ensembles including the symphonic wind ensemble, percussion ensemble, and the Southern Pride marching band. He was also the instructor and arranger for the Southern Pride Drumline and Indoor Drumline in 2003 and 2004.

 

In addition to GSU, Mark was a member of Atlanta Quest Independent Indoor Drumline in 2004 and was on staff with the organization in 2005. He played percussion for the Hilton Head Orchestra in the spring of 2004 and the Atlanta Wind Symphony in 2005. Mark has also worked as a percussion instructor for South Effingham High School, Wayne County High School, Southeast Bulloch High School, and served on the summer band staff for Milton High School in 2003 and 2004.

Mark’s professional affiliations include the Vic Firth, Inc. Education Team, Georgia Music Educators Association, Music Educators National Conference, Percussive Arts Society, and is currently a member of the Winter Guard International (WGI) Percussion Advisory Board.
