Travis Roye

Indoor Percussion Composer

Travis Roye is a native of Lincolnton, Georgia located in the Augusta area. He completed his Bachelor of Music Education degree at Georgia Southern University in 2004. 

While in college he participated in several ensembles and served as the principal percussionist in each of them including the marching band where he served as the instructor/arranger/composer for the outdoor and indoor units. The indoor ensemble consistently placed in the top 5 nationally at PASIC during his tenure. 

After graduating he began his teaching career in Warner Robins, Georgia as a percussion instructor and arranger for several high schools and middle schools including Houston County High School where he currently serves as the assistant band director and the director of percussion. While at Houston County High School he has helped the program to double in size and has assisted in the development of many musicians that have received several accolades including superior ratings, class and grand championships in marching activities as well as several individual accomplishments including placing many students in Governors Honors Program, All State Band, Region Band and District Honor Band. He has had students participate at PASIC in solo competitions as well as placing many students in local and regional youth symphonies including the Macon-Mercer Youth Symphony. Students have also gone on to major in music at many fantastic universities including Florida State University, Georgia Southern University and Columbus State University. 

Travis has enjoyed the transition to assistant band director where he co-conducts several ensembles and assists in the overall success of the band program. He also teaches Music Appreciation with his own self-made “History of Mainstream Music” curriculum. When he is not teaching he finds time to perform in his rock band “The Industry” that just recently performed for over 10,000 people opening for major act “Incubus.” The band plans to release an album later in the fall of 2012. He belongs to several professional organizations including PAS, GMEA, MENC, and NBA.  

Travis is married to “Teacher of the Year” at Thomson Middle School Carli Roye and has two amazing children Brooklyn Isabel Roye and Noah Braeden Roye. Noah was just recently born in July of 2012! The family also has a fantastic and unique dog named Bella.
